The fourth grade
students participated in Division Day at Parnell Elementary on December 1 and
2. The entire day was devoted to teaching students how to divide, beginning
with the concept of division and working through three-digit quotients using
word problems.
Each day, one-half of
the students in fourth grade participated. The students were in the gym where
they were divided into small groups of six or seven students. Throughout the
day the teachers presented the division lessons to the large group. The
students then went back into their small groups and practiced working
problems. In order to provide
students the small group instruction, we had many volunteers. It is hard to
believe that in just one day the students can learn to divide and have a good
time learning how to do it! |
